Mr. Independent...

Last night was a BIG night.  Grant had a sleep over.  In his OWN bedroom.  He did great, slept 10 hours.     As a Mom I feel like its a little too early.  But I don't want to wait until sleeping in our room becomes a tough habit for him to break.  I am also worried about too many changes coming at once when I go back to work in a few months, I mean change is tough for kids right? Who am I kidding.  He is hardly phased at this point.  The only person this is tough on...is me...surprise surprise right???  I already miss him.

Shout out to my Aunt Becky, Uncle Bill, and Grandma who bought us the video monitor.  Worrying about him sleeping in there alone is so much easier when I can check on him without even getting out of bed!!!

2 Months...

Grant, You Are 2 Months Old

What Have You Been Up To?

You are wearing 0-3 month clothes now.

You weigh 11 lbs. 6 oz. and rank in the 50th percentile for weight.

You are 24 inches long and rank in the 75th percentile for height.

You are wearing size 1 diapers.

You are eating 4.5 oz. every three hours and are waking up most nights to eat one time.  Every couple of nights you decide to give Mommy a break and sleep the whole night through.  We are hoping you start to make a habit of this special treatment!

You usually go to bed for the "night" between 7 and 8 and wake up for the "day" between 5 and 6 .

You usually nap in the morning and the afternoon everyday although the times very from day to day.  We are going to work on getting you on more of a schedule the next two months before Mommy has to go back to work.

You are working on learning to take naps in your crib, once we master that this week you will start spending the night there too!!! Yay!! (This means Mommy can start using the treadmill in the bedroom again since you won't be sleeping there anymore and believe me...she needs it!!!)

Things You Like...

You still love your Gentle Giraffe.

Your fingers, you have been trying REALLY hard to find your thumb!

Being swaddled and "shhhushhhed" still seems to sooth you instantly too.

The Moby Wrap.  You will sleep for HOURS in this thing!!! I think you just like being so close to your Mommy or Daddy.

Sitting in the Boppy and talking to anyone who will listen to you.

Bath time.  A bath can calm you down from any fit of crying you seem to have.  You love to kick your feet and smile at Mommy the whole time!

Being held... ALL DAY LONG!  We are working on this.

Things You Don't Like...

The CAR and your CAR SEAT are still your two least favorite places to be.  You seem to despise them both so much that Mommy doesn't take you on long walks alone anymore, or to ANY store alone for very long.

Shopping.  You SCREAM after about ten minutes of being inside any store.

Being in your swing if it is moving or if the music is playing.

Your pacifier.  You get very mad at it anytime we put it into your mouth and start to make angry grunting noises until you finally spit it out!!!

First's This Month...

First "conversations" with Mommy and Daddy.

First time you rolled over onto your side.

First real smiles.

First Halloween.

First World Series (You watched with Daddy).

First visit from Uncle Jimmy.

Shots.  At the Dr.'s this morning.

Notes From Mommy and Daddy

Grant, we never imagined how much one tiny little grin and a few "agoo's" could make our days worth while.  We could sit on the couch with you on our laps and listen to you girggle, giggle, and groan all day long.  It amazes me how much communicating you are actually able to do already.  Life with you just seems to get better and better everyday.  We can't wait to see what the next month brings!!!

Help...

Grant,
Today you cried so hard in the mall people were staring.  Let me rephrase that, people from fifty feet away were staring.  Staring like I had done something terrible to you.  I rushed you to Nordstrom's luxurious mother's room and changed your diaper like it was a race for a $100 dollar gift card.  It didn't stop you.  I held you, I rocked you, I fed you.  You held the bottle in your mouth without eating anything and then continued to spit it out like it was last years Halloween candy.  People continued to stop and stare.  I didn't know what to do.  If I tried to walk you back to the car like that (which was on the OTHER SIDE of the mall) I was certain someone would call the police (slight exaggeration) so I called your Daddy.  He was working across the street.  He came to save us.  As soon as he got there you stopped (figures) and so we went to grab lunch at Subway.  I am going to tell myself you did all of this just because you missed your Dad and thought we all deserved a lunch out together.  I suppose you are expecting a thank you.  Maybe tomorrow.  Until then... sweet dreams my sweet little boy.
Love,
Mommy

Here and There

Just a couple of highlights from last week.  No great stories.  No words of wisdom.  Just quick and to the point.

Sweet boy.

Sleeping with Daddy.

Matt and Dina came to visit.

On a sad note, I packed away Grant's newborn clothes tonight.  I have been putting it off, it was finally time to bite the bullet.  He is growing... I can't deny it... keeping the clothes in the dresser isn't going stop him!
